Firearms Transfers

When purchasing a firearm online or from a private seller, federal law mandates that the firearm be shipped to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder, such as Trigger Pointe, LLC, to complete the transfer. Here's what you can expect:

  1. Initiate the Transfer: Inform the seller that Trigger Pointe will handle your firearm transfer. Provide them with our contact information to arrange shipment.

  2. Shipment to Our Facility: The seller will ship the firearm to our licensed facility in Angier, NC.

  3. Notification of Arrival: Upon receiving the firearm, we will inspect it and notify you that it is ready for pickup.

  4. Complete ATF Form 4473: At our facility, you will complete the ATF Form 4473. This form collects your personal information and verifies your eligibility to own a firearm.

  5. Background Check: We will conduct a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). This process typically takes a few minutes but can extend up to three business days. **This step is not necessary if the buyer has a valid NC Concealed Carry Permit. â€‹â€‹

  6. Transfer Completion: Upon approval, you can take possession of your firearm.

Requirements:

  • Valid Identification: Bring a government-issued photo ID with your current address.

  • Eligibility: Ensure you are legally permitted to own a firearm under federal and state laws.

  • Concealed Carry Permit, if applicable

  • Transfer Fee: A $25 fee is charged for the transfer service. We accept cash or credit/debit card.

NFA Item Transfers

Transferring NFA items, such as suppressors, short-barreled rifles, or machine guns, involves additional steps due to stringent federal regulations. Here's what to expect:

  1. Initiate the Transfer: Notify the seller that Trigger Pointe, LLC, will facilitate your NFA item transfer. Provide them with our FFL and Special Occupational Taxpayer (SOT) information to arrange shipment.

  2. Shipment to Our Facility: The seller will ship the NFA item to our licensed facility.

  3. Notification of Arrival: Upon receipt, we will inspect the item and inform you that it is ready for the next steps.

  4. Creating Your ATF eForms Account: To streamline the transfer process for your NFA item, you'll need an ATF eForms account. Visit the ATF eForms website (atfonline.gov) and create an account if you don't already have one. This account allows you to complete and submit Form 4 electronically, speeding up the application and approval process.

  5. Complete ATF Form 4: You must complete ATF Form 4 (Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of Firearm), which includes your personal information, a photograph, and fingerprints.

    • Note: If customers eForms account already has fingerprints, new fingerprints card will not be necessary.

  6. Law Enforcement Notification: Notify your Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) of your intent to acquire the NFA item.

  7. Submit Application and Tax Payment: Submit the completed Form 4 along with a $200 tax payment to the ATF. For items classified as "Any Other Weapon" (AOW), the tax is $5.

  8. ATF Approval: The ATF will process your application, which can take several months. Upon approval, we will notify you.

  9. Finalizing the Transfer: After ATF approval, complete a background check at our facility before taking possession of the NFA item.

  • Background check not necessary with valid NC     Concealed Carry Permit.

Requirements:

  • Valid Identification: Bring a government-issued photo ID with your current address.

  • Eligibility: Ensure you are legally permitted to own NFA items under federal and state laws.

  • Fingerprints and Photograph: Provide recent fingerprints and a passport-sized photograph for the ATF application.

    • Note: If you've already been fingerprinted for an NFA item previously and it is associated with your eforms account, updated fingerprints will not be necessary.

  • Transfer Fee: A $75 fee is charged for NFA item transfers.
